چکیده

Liposarcomata most frequently originate in the interfascial plane of the thigh, or in the retroperitoneal tissues.' Primary development in the mediastinum is a rare occurrence, with less than 60 cases reported in the world literature.2 3 4 5 Histopathologically, liposarcomata are classified into four basic types: well differ entiated, myxoid, round cell and pleomorphic, and the clinical behaviour and prognosis correlate closely with the histological sub-type. The development of metastases in well differentiated and myxoid tumours is rarer than in the other sub-types, but myxoid liposarcomata can metastasize as a late manifestation of the disease. We report a patient with a myxoid liposarcoma of the anterior mediastinum, which exhibited aggressive behaviour and an unusual pattern of metastases at rare sites, including the spinal epidural space, which caused spinal cord compression.

Liposarcoma of the posterior mediastinum in a child.

Liposarcoma is rare in children and rarely occurs in the posterior mediastinum in any age group. A massive intrathoracic tumor in a 17-year-old young man was a diagnostic dilemma; preoperative radiographic evaluation and biopsy led us to believe it was a teratoma. At operation, a poorly differentiated myxoid liposarcoma originating from the posterior mediastinum was found and excised. To our kn...

Successful resection of a giant primary liposarcoma of the posterior mediastinum.

Primary liposarcomas of the mediastinum are extremely rare neoplasms, comprising less than 1% of all mediastinal tumors. These tumors occur most commonly in the lower extremities (75%) and less frequently in the retroperitoneum. We present a case involving a successful radical resection of a large myxoid liposarcoma and its recurrence, both located in the posterior mediastinum.

Multicentric Myxoid Liposarcoma; a Case Report and Literature Review

Liposarcoma is a common malignant soft tissue tumor, accounting for 10% to 16% of all sarcomas. Multicentric myxoid liposarcoma is an uncommon condition. Differentiation between several primary tumors and metastasis of a single liposarcoma represents the main difficulty in diagnosis. A 47-years old woman presented with right thigh myxoid liposarcoma and underwent wide margin tumor resection. ...

Mediastinal Myxoid Liposarcoma with Intrapericardial Involvement and Large Pericardial Effusion.

Liposarcoma is the name given to a group of soft tissue sarcomas (STSs) with adipocytic differentiation. As a group, liposarcomas are the second most common STSs in adults. In 1951 Kozonis et al published that in the English language only four cases of liposarcomas originating in the mediastinum had been described. Primary mediastinal liposarcoma is an uncommon neoplasm of intrathoracic origin....
